Dear
Friend:
Earlier this year, I wrote about proposed
“bad” legislation: House Bills 2070, 2384, and 2386. The legislation
was introduced by the Arizona Automobile Dealers Association (AADA)
to eliminate Arizonans’ rights to choose how and where they obtain
a new vehicle. The AADA claimed this move was in the public’s best
interest.
Centennial Leasing & Sales, along with its
credit union auto buying broker partners, strongly opposed this
anti-consumer legislation. We hired lobbyists and asked you, our
valuable clients, to help by contacting your state senators and
representatives. With your help, we are happy to report that House
Bills 2070, 2384, and 2386, the New Car Dealers Profit Protection
Bills, failed to make it through the recently completed
Arizona state legislative session.
Team Centennial, and
Arizona consumers, owes thanks to many people. We greatly
appreciate everyone who made their thoughts known, and voices heard,
by sending an email, placing a telephone call, writing a letter,
or networking with our state senators and representatives.
We
thank Arizona Federal Credit Union, Canyon State Credit
Union, and SunWest Federal Credit Union for their decisions
to continue providing quality service options to their membership
and for their support to us throughout this process. We also thank
AAA Arizona for their strong voice for the motoring public.
In addition, we are grateful to the state senators and representatives
who realized that if anyone needed legislative protection, it’s
the consumer, and not the car dealers.
Your actions requested
our legislators maintain the free market place where competition
provides greater choices and improved prices for consumers. You
said you wanted freedom of choice on how and where you obtained
your next vehicle. Your voices made a difference allowing you, and
not the new car dealers, to make the decision on how to obtain a
vehicle.
We’re not basking in the above success. Team
Centennial believes the Arizona Automobile Dealers Association and
a core of Phoenix new car dealerships, along with select members
of the Arizona legislature, will sponsor another bill at the next
session in early 2007.
When the New Car Dealers Profit
Protection Bill resurfaces next year, Team Centennial will
again be asking for your sincere, unbiased support. If you’ve
found the vehicle buying service offered by your credit union to
be of value … and if you feel you want to retain the option
of using a vehicle broker in the future … then we’d appreciate you
communicating your thoughts once again to your legislators.
Meanwhile, each of us at Team Centennial will continue to
treat every client with total respect while we strive to deliver
absolute value and “Your BEST automotive buying experience.”
Respectfully,
